Q...If I book now for a wedding a year or so away...am I locked into that price? Because a wedding is sometimes booked as far as 12-18 months in advance, there is a chance that the rates could slightly go up due to normal inflation, gas prices, etc. In most cases if the rates are raised, it isn't by much. If you already have an existing wedding scheduled and a contract has been emailed AND you've returned the deposit due, you will be locked into your rates at signing.
Q...What kind of makeup do you use? On-location kits are stocked with a variety of high-quality options. Mineral makeup is a favorite for foundation because it's so good for your skin. Youngblood & Obsessed Minerals are two of our favorites!Aside from mineral makeup, other brands and formulas are available to choose from that will compliment any skintone or texture. For airbrushing makeup, Temptu Pro is used which is the top selling airbrushing product on the market right now.
Q ... Do you travel just to do the bride only? At this time there is a 3 person minimum (including the bride). In some cases Julie can fit a "bride only" for airbrushing, so it's best to still inquire about your day! Some weddings start very early and some start very late, so there are days that two venues may be accomodated. Half day as well as daily rates are available for "bride only". It's best to contact Julie for all quotes and pricing for every situation is different.
Q ... Will my last makeup all day? Yes! Your makeup will most definitely last all day. When choosing a traditional makeup application, the highest quality makeup is used with primers to ensure longevity. All makeup applications are set with a waterproofing spray. A small sample of lipstick and a lipstick brush is provided for touch-ups to the bride and bridesmaids if needed at no charge. When choosing Temptu Airbrushing, the product is proven to last for 18 hours! It is made for longevity and holds up to it's promise.
Q ... What types of payment do you accept? Pittsburgh Makeup accepts Cash, Personal Checks, Visa, Mastercard and Discover for your convenience. On the actual wedding day or event only cash or check is accepted. If you wish to pay by credit card you must call our studio with your payment prior to an on-location appointment. There is a $20 fee for any returned check, thank you.
Q ... What is the difference between airbrushing & traditional? The Airbrushing used at Pittsburgh Makeup is Temptu S/B, which is a silicone based makeup. Once applied it lasts for 18 hours and no touch-ups are needed. The biggest difference between airbrushing and traditional makeup is the method that it is applied. Since the makeup is applied through an airbrushing gun, the product comes out micro-fine (so fine you can't even see it coming out) which makes the application flawless & very sanitary. A big misconception with airbrushing is that it's heavy...it isnot. The coverage can be very minimal, just to even out the skintone or heavy enough to cover a tattoo. It is very versitale. The traditional makeup used is a water or oil base and a primer is used under it to ensure the best result. Also a waterproof spray is used over the completed makeup application. Touch-ups may be required as with any traditional makeup. If an airbrushing application is desired at your trial there is no additional fee to do so, just the normal $50 practice fee is charged.
Q ... Does Pittsburgh Makeup also do hair? Julie mostly specializes in makeup. If you need a great on-location hairstylist for your WEDDING DAY, please visit the Vendor Links page to see a few recommendations. If looking to book for a commercial shoot, headshot session, etc., light hair styling/touch-ups are included.
Q ... What areas do you travel to? Mostly all areas in Pittsburgh and it's surrounding areas. Pittsburgh Makeup covers the first 55 miles of travel and is included into the rates, this covers most areas in town. For areas exceeding that travel area, a small travel fee will be given which is based on the mileage over. The going rate is .55 a mile outside the travel area.
Q ... Is a MAKEUP TRIAL included in the price already? No, the price for a trial ("practice make-up") is $50. This session is approximately 1 hour. You can choose either traditional makeup or airbrushing. Every bride should consider doing a practice session just for the peace of mind...it will be one less thing to stress about! For a few tips about practice sessions visit Pittsburgh Makeup's blog (link at bottom of page) and search PRACTICE.
Q ... Do you require a deposit? For weddings...Yes. To reserve your wedding date a $50 deposit is required at the time of reservation. This deposit is non-refundable only if you should decide cancel, otherwise it is applied to the wedding date balance. Once you make the decision to reseve a wedding day, then a makeup agreement will be emailed to you.
